Dr. Horsfall Biography

Dr. Horsfall is a California-licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in adult clinical neuropsychological assessment. She received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology (neuropsychology track) from the APA accredited Pacific Graduate School of Psychology (Stanford Affiliation) after completing her undergraduate work in psychology at Yale University . From 2001 – 2004, she worked as a clinical postdoctoral fellow in neuropsychology at the Neuropsychology Assessment Laboratory and Medical Psychology Assessment Center (MPAC) at UCLA. As a fellow, she was named the Paul Satz Fellow and Chief Fellow. Prior to her fellowship, she worked at the Central Arkansas VA Healthcare System, University of Arkansas for the Medical Sciences, and the Palo Alto VA Healthcare System, all of which meet the American Psychological Association Division of Neuropsychology (Division 40) Guidelines and Houston Conference Guidelines for practice in neuropsychology.

 

Dr. Horsfall currently holds an academic position as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA working primarily in the neuropsychology and neurosurgery services. She is also the Associate Director of Clinical Services for MPAC at the Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior and is responsible for the training and supervision of 14 predoctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows. During her time at UCLA, she has been the primary neuropsychologist in the neuro-rehabilitation and epilepsy services and has developed specialized clinical skills in the assessment of neurological disorders and syndromes including epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, vascular disorders, amnestic syndromes, dementia, and tumors. In addition, she is one of only two clinicians at UCLA who currently conducts Intracarotid Sodium Amobarbital Procedures (Wada Tests) and intraoperative electrocorticography language mapping for the neurosurgery service. Dr. Horsfall is also the primary clinical neuropsychologist responsible for assessments conducted for the Neurosurgery, Parkinson's Disease, and Sports Medicine services.

 

In addition to her position at UCLA, Dr. Horsfall works in private practice in West Los Angeles and holds a clinical appointment at the West Los Angeles VA Healthcare System.


Further professional and clinical experiences include adult learning disorder and attention deficit disorder evaluations, group social skills training with brain-injured and schizophrenic populations, geropsychology, schizophrenia, and individual psychotherapy. Her current research interests lie in the assessment of memory functions in epilepsy.

 

Dr. Horsfall also has a number of professional affiliations including membership in the National Academy of Neuropsychology, The International Neuropsychological Society, The American Epilepsy Society, and the American Psychological Association (APA), as well as the APA Divisions 40 (Neuropsychology) and 47 (Exercise and Sport Psychology).
