Projective Services

We are pleased to announce the addition of projective services for children, adolescents and adults. While we will continue to provide comprehensive neuropsychological exams, tailored to our clients' needs, we are now able to provide comprehensive psychodiagnostic evaluations as an adjunct to the neuropsychological exam. These psychodiagnostic exams include projective testing, such as the Rorschach Inkblot test (scored according to the Exner System, Third Edition), Roberts-2, and Thematic Apperception Test.

Projective tests provide rich information about how an individual perceives themselves, other people, and the world. Most measures of cognitive ability examine discrete aspects of an individual's cognitive functioning, such as memory or attention, in a way that is obvious to the individual. In contrast, projective tests present the individual with ambiguous information, in the form of inkblots or pictures of social scenes, in order to understand how an individual makes sense of this information using their cognitive and emotional resources. As a result, projective tests can tell us many things, such as how an individual processes emotional information, integrates emotion and thought, relates to other individuals in their social world, and copes with stress. When combined with comprehensive neuropsychological testing, projective tests provide the most complete picture of an individual's functioning in multiple domains at that point in time.
